The ACLC is funded by Legal Aid Ontario (LAO). Legal Aid Ontario is responsible for the provision of legal services to low income Ontarians through legal clinics, legal aid certificates and other means. The ACLC is one of several speciality clinics funded by Legal Aid Ontario.

The Law Society of Upper Canada (LSUC) is the body that governs the legal profession in Ontario, based on the public interest. LSUC deals with complaints against lawyers. LSUC also offers public education to lawyers and operates Pro Bono Law Ontario which provides free legal advice in certain situations.
